Red lionfish, Pterois volitans (Linnaeus, 1758), invasion in estuarine and nearshore habitats in Delta of Parnaíba conservation unit

O presente trabalho apresenta o registro de P. volitans (nativo do Pacífico ocidental) em habitats estuarinos e costeiros em unidade de conservação do Delta do Parnaíba. Um espécime de peixe-leão, com comprimento total de 15 cm, foi coletado em março de 2022 com o auxílio de uma arte de pesca denominada jereré ou landuá (armadilhas) próximo a bomba de captação de água de uma larvicultura de camarão. A presença do peixe leão em águas rasas e salobra indica uma rápida adaptação da espécie em diferentes habitats ao longo de sua distribuição anteriormente reportada. Adicionalmente, a presença da espécie em unidade de conservação aumenta o alerta para invasão. Pesquisas de monitoramento são necessárias para mensurar os impactos da presença dessa espécie exótica no ecossistema costeiro brasileiro.
